Reviving Runescape
What many people have said is very true indeed, Runescape is dieing.
-Pking has been destroyed
-Merchanting will soon die (3k cap)
-Staking has died (3k cap)
-Grand Exchange's iron grip on ALL prices
It does not have to be this way though..
PKING
We could easily fix Pking by having Bounty Hunter as an ADDITION to the wilderness, not make it the wilderness. I think the Revenants that Jagex has introduced to the wilderness will make any RWT or Bot shake in their boots.
Another way we could fix Pking is to have seperate Bounty Hunter caves, one being Multi-combat where the other is single combat. The "rogue hunter" is a joke, the penalty is weak and if you have enough friends you can sit in the middle of it without any risk at all. Rogue Hunter needs to either be fixed or be removed completely.
~Jagex has stated in a new release that they will look for ways to improve bounty hunter, but will not fully bring back wildy. Let's hope they do well on their new ideas.
TRADING
Merchanting, Trading, Etc. The 3k cap is an OK idea, but not for ALL PLAYERS! Make the cap for players with a total lvl under 500 (subject to change). First off, anybody around this lvl will not be dealing with higher priced items that often. I say TOTAL LVL so it does not kill skillers, combat lvls are easy to acheive for bots anyway. This lvl cap leaves enough time for jagex's "sensors" to detect whether or not it is a bot and deal with the problem before he can do what he was made for. This will SEVERELY hinder the bot making process, and may wipe out autos completely. Autos are usually lvl 3, only use 1 skill, so it is impossible to get 500 total lvl for a bot. The only way around this would be to...
A. Steal Higher Lvl accounts and use them or...
B. Manually Train a Character, then go through the process of trading ALL of your bots, and trading them all in 3k increments forever =) sounds like fun eh?
When bots can't give items to their suppliers, the problem will be solved. Bots will become obsolete.
This "Skill Cap" will not punish real players, which the 3k cap will most certainly do.
The update in itself is flawed, bots have hours to spend trading and its no skin off of anyones back. A bot will just stay in the same spot and trade over and over and over again, trading up to 3k worth at a time.
*More to be added on this^*
STAKING
Staking, this could be one of the simplest solutions and stupidest mistakes on jagex's part.
Don't set a cap on how much you can stake, set a cap on the difference between the two stakes!
No REAL staker is going to stake 1m for a potato! Real stakers go for 1m/1m or even more. Make a maximum difference between stakes, which can rise and fall depending on your combat lvl (combat lvl here, skillers don't duel =P)
3-50 have a maximum difference of 1k
51-60 have a maximum difference of 5k
61-70 have a maximum difference of 10k
71-80 ...50k
81+...100k
Whenever you duel someone of a lower level, the lowest lvls "Max Difference applies" to that duel. For example, a lvl 90 dueling a lvl 10 can only have a difference of 1k.
Yes, you can lose intentionally, but due to the lvl cap the most you could make is what the RWT'ers lvl is. Usually a lvl 3 =). Youl would make only 1k per match, this adds up to hours of work over time.
No RWT going on there folks...unless the player wants to go through 1000's of duels xD.
GRAND EXCHANGE
Personally, i LOVE the grand exchange. I really do not miss trying to mess with people all day trying to sell whatever. However, it has its flaws. The Grand Exchange will soon control our Player to Player trades, meaning you cannot sell an item unless its within 3k of its Grand Exchange Market Value. Goodbye Merchanting. That means the max profit you could make from something is 3k..woo full bronze for all.
So heres the deal, the idea behind the "Cap" is to stop insanely unbalance trades ie. scams, RWT, and bots.
The only scams that involve trade anymore are scams that can only fool people with 0% common sense. Everyone knows that a spinach roll is not worth 1m, and anyone with 1m to spend knows that as well. Remove item trade scams were done away with the new trade interface ( thumbs up jagex i liked that one). So the only trouble left would be the bots and RWT's.
Bots can be easily taken care of.. they are ALWAYS low lvl so an implemented "Total Lvl Cap" would blow the bots out of the water
(the total lvl cap is explained above under trading).
Whenever bots are gone, so are RWT. RWT get their supplies from bots, but with a total lvl cap hindering the bots transportation of items we will see the fall of RWT.
Another fix we could do for the Grand Exchange is to make it the only method of trade...We cannot do it in its current state though.
1. They need to make the Grand Exchange accessable from anywhere in Runescape (minus areas like Wilderness, Minigames, anywhere where certain items aren't allowed, etc.) They could make multiple buildings or maybe incorperate it as a no runes low lvl spell (like home tele).
2. They need to make it more efficient
They could make it more efficient by..
A. ability to buy items with items, this may take longer though. When you buy an item with an item the seller still receives cash, this is becuase the item that you put up to buy with is bought by another player on the G/E.
This is very hard to explain so i'm going to use an example...
-Seller- Puts Rune Platebody on the GrandExchange.
-Buyer- Decides that he/she wants the rune platebody, but doesn't have enough money for it, he/she does however has a rune kite and a rune chainbody. He/She places them both up for the offer (the value of the items is the lowest market price at the time, will be explained later) and waits for the seller to accept his offer (credits go to Razorlike for this suggestion)
(seller still receives cash) When accepted, he buyer receives the platebody along with the amount that was over the price of runeplate (lets say rune plate cost 60k, and kite and chainbody cost 80k, when he put the items up he would receive the platebody and 30k cash (maybe less than 30k as a "processing fee"))
-GrandExchange- Holds the items and puts them on the market for lowest market price (makes selling the items much faster, this increases market efficiency and speeds up the transfer to the seller), when the items are sold, the money is sent to the seller.
~Transfer Complete~
In conclusion
If all of these ideas are incorperated, the entire bot system will tumble like dominos.
The combination of the "Skill cap" in both trade and duel arena ( along with the restrictions of other covert trades, this includes advertising Party Room parties all over runescape and Wildy) will make item transferring from bots to their "suppliers" nearly impossible.
"Suppliers" can be many different things. They can be RWT seeking to make real profit from the game, or players who want to get massive amounts of items for free to use in their skills or to sell for money. These ideas also have very minor consequences to REAL players, whereas the updates they have presented so far will hurt quite a bit.
