part 2
Properly Asking & Answering Questions
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before asking a question, try to keep the following in mind:
What do I really need to know?
Am I absolutely clear in what I am asking for?
Has this question already been asked and/or answered elsewhere in the forum?
Have I tried to find the information myself, first?
Speaking of finding information yourself, the following links may prove very helpful in your search:
The DragonFable Encyclopedia
DragonFable FAQ
Every DF Link You'll Ever Need
The Rules would be listed, but you're obviously reading those already.
Remember, this forum is not for ranting. You may ask, "Well, what forum IS for ranting, then?" The answer is:
There is no place on the forums where ranting or whining is acceptable.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When answering a question, ask yourself:
Am I sure that I understand what's being asked, and providing the correct, relevant information?
Am I being courteous in my answer, no matter how rudely the question was presented?
Do I only allude to useful links and information found elsewhere, or do I provide direct links for easier access?
Has the question already been fully answered?
The same links as supplied above are just as useful when answering questions as asking them.
A quick reminder, from the Universal Rules/Guidelines:
quote:
19) No backseat/mini-modding.
This includes demanding that a user delete his/her post and/or getting the thread locked (e.g. Delete your post! This thread should be locked.). Any action where the user attempts to take over for a mod (including any variation of "I'd rate this ___, if I could!") anywhere on a sub-forum without explicit permission may be considered mini-modding.
This is especially true when the user only posts to do so. If someone has posted in a forum where it might be hard to determine what topic belongs there, post with advice addressing the question and suggesting (Note: NOT demanding) that the user post in the appropriately named forum.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully now that you've completed reading this, you're fully prepared to take on all the information that the forums have to offer!
Thanks!

Do NOT post unless your post adds anything to the question.
If someone has already fully answered the question, please do not post in a reply if your post says the same thing. There is not need to link to a guide if the person above has linked to the same guide etc. . Things like this take up valuable space in the DF Q&A. Thanks.
